Bench Renovation

So, periodically I go shopping in my parent's basement.  There is so much down there that they could probably have a furniture shop (ha- well, most of the stuff is our's).  BUT anyways, I found this down there the other day.  Mom used it for seating at the kitchen table a LONG time ago.  But hey, she decoupaged the wallpaper she was using to the bench so it would match. Props for mom for being creative! So here is the bench in all it's glory:

Because I didn't feel like going shopping for paint, I used the faint yellow we had left over from when I painted the kitchen pantry door.

Well then it looked boring.  I wanted to personalize it.  And here's what we did:

I'm pretty excited about it.  It's going to go under a coat rack right when you walk in from the garage.  So people can sit down put on your shoes before walking outside.

BABY BLOCK

Last weekend, I sewed a baby block for baby boy!  I followed this tutorial.  It's definitely not perfect, but I think it's something for Ryder to play with and also learn his family!  All of the instructions are in the tutorial, but I know there's a few things I would alter, like cutting the vinyl larger, because it's a pain to sew a thin ribbon around  the edge of the vinyl around the picture.  I would cut the vinyl to cover almost the whole square, and then just cut the extra vinyl that would come out from under the ribbon (I'm not sure if this is making any sense, but fyi).  Besides that- just sew the squares inside out, turn right side out, stuff, and finish with hand sewing!  I hope to make a better one this weekend, but I think this one got the job done!

The pins are holding the vinyl to the picture (the hardest part was sewing that little ribbon on the edge of the vinyl)!!

Look, baby boy is already exploring!  He's thinking those strange people look oddly familiar....

Little does he know.....

NURSING COVER

You are going to be shocked- shocked I tell you.  I made something.  And I gave it away as a gift.  And nonot evento family!  I made a nursing cover and gave it to a new mom as a gift!!  A new mom that I don't even really know!!!

Eek....I have never done this before!  It's such a weird feeling that I can do that! Is it normal to feel nervous, yet excited all at the same time?!?!

(I hope it was ok??)
